Express Entry Update

From 1st January 2015 onwards, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has launched the new Express Entry system. Ever since it was first announced in the month of April, 2014, Express Entry program has managed to catch the attention of prospect skilled migrants all over the world.

Under this new system, the four economic immigration programs of Canada will be accessed. These include-

  • The Federal Skilled Worker Program,
  • The Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • The Canadian Experience Class,

And a portion of Provincial Nominee Programs.

CIC through this change in the immigration system of Canada is aiming towards improving the migration scenario of the country (especially in regard to highly skilled professionals), with greater focus on the quality of the applicants, greater accessibility of the applicants from various fields and also making the overall process quicker.

Through this change in the rules, provinces and territories of Canada can recruit the highly skilled professionals under all the economic immigration programs to meet the local labor market needs of the country.

Some facts that you need to know:

  1. This process will no longer consider the candidates on the measure of “first in first out”. Rather, they will be given an Invitation to Apply (ITA) by the government of Canada to succeed in the process economically. The one holding a valid job offer and whose skills are approved by LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) will be selected.
  2. The Express Entry system is purposely designed to invite highly skilled professionals towards the country. A candidate with “low skills” and “low wages” will not be offered the ITA and selected for that position under the changed system. However, there are some positions that are low paying but are registered under LMIA, and in that case the applicant applying under those positions will be considered to be invited through Express Entry (considering the labor market demands of Canada).
  3. Gone are the days when some application flaws were allowed by the immigration department of Canada, but the new system will not be showing any generosity to a candidate’s application that is updated incompletely. It will automatically lead to the rejection of the application.
  4. The candidate must take care while submitting his/her profile, checking it in terms of language testing and credential assessment completion. Submission of original documents by the applicant is not required to be provided at the pool stage. Further, the candidate must not submit the profile in the preconception of receiving the above mentioned documents.
  5. Those who are applying under Provincial Nominee Programs can use the Express Entry Program for faster processing of their application. But it should not be concluded as stuff shot that promises entry in the country. Candidates have to meet the criteria of the other economic immigration programs that are the FSW, FST, or CEC programs to qualify for the PR stage.
  6. Considering the draws, it will be taking place in every two weeks, picking up skilled professionals that successfully qualify the ranking score. It should be noted here that if the candidate is not selected under this system after 12 months, then he/she will automatically be moved out the Express Entry Program and will have to re-apply.
  7. There will be an extra advantage to a candidate who possesses a permanent LMIA from an employer in Canada, in accordance with the traditional Work Based LMIA.

However, there are still certain facts that are yet to be disclosed by the immigration department of Canada.

Express Entry Canada will keep you updated with the all the latest news and information in accordance with these changes in the immigration rules of the country.
