Why it is called “Express Entry”?

With the aim of processing the application in a period of 6 months, the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has named this new system as Express Entry. It should be noted here that the six months time in this processing starts from the day the applicant submits his/her complete application for PR visa to be issued by the immigration department of Canada.

What is Invitation to apply?

The one who has been selected under the Express Entry Program has offered an invitation to apply by either the federal government of Canada, provinces of Canada or by an employer in Canada. The candidate is offered ITA if, the applicant:

  • Holds top ranking in regard to the Express Entry pool, based on his/her skills and qualifications
  • He/she is nominated by any one of the province or territory of Canada
  • Hold a valid job offer that is subject to the Labour Market Impact Assessment of Canada

How comprehensive ranking system works?

Is there any fee to create an express entry profile?

Creating an Express Entry Profile is free of cost as per government of Canada.

What are the supporting documents required?

You need to submit various documents, including birth certificate, marriage certificate, the results of the language test, ECA (Educational Credential Assessment), reference letter from the employer, background check as well as other documents as required.

Can the applicant bring his/her family along?

The successful applicant under this program can bring along his/her spouse, common-law-partner and dependent children with them. For the applicants who are married, they can bring only one will receive an ITA by the immigration department of Canada. They must also pass the medical examination, submit the results of IELTS and undergo with a background check.

Do I need to pass the language test?

Yes, all those who apply for PR under this program needs to fulfill the language requirements by undergoing language test. Under the test, candidates are awarded with a set of points for each of the four economic immigration programs under the Express Entry System. These tests are approved by Citizenship and Immigration department of Canada. IELTS (for English) and TEF (for French) are the most popular among them.

What happens in case my language test result is expired?

Submitting an Express Entry application with language test results that have expired leads to refusal of the application by the Canadian immigration authorities. In case your language test results have expired, then you need to get a new language test and send the photocopy of the results along with the application submitted.

Do I need a valid job offer under the Express Entry System?

It is not necessary to possess a job offer. But under Express Entry System, obtaining a valid job offer from an employer in Canada increases the chances of being invited to promote themselves directly directly in regard to the CanadaVisa Job Search tool.

Is there any cap on the intake of applicants under this system?

No. Express Entry Canada has placed no cap on the intake of the number of skilled professionals to migrate to the country.
